About MagicEngine...
 |
does it play Arcade Card CD games too?
Yes, it plays Arcade Card CD-ROMs, all of them.
|
 |
in some CD games there's no music, or no sound effects, what can I do?
This happens sometimes when using Magic System to play CD games -
all the sound functions haven't been fully implemented yet.
But you can work around this problem by using the original System Card ROM
instead, just copy this ROM (SYSCARD3.PCE) in MagicEngine directory,
the emulator will detect it automaticaly and use it instead of
Magic System.

CD game 'xxxx' doesn't work, can I do something?
Did you try to run this game using the System Card ROM (SYSCARD3.PCE)?
A few CD games don't work if you run them with Magic System.
The opposite can also be true, some games run only with Magic System.
Be sure to always try the two different systems (in v1.00 click on
the little down arrow in the 'boot cd' menu to change the CD system).
If nothing work then may be this game isn't correctly emulated by
MagicEngine, in such a case feel free to report the problem
to us, we will try to fix it.
|
 |
game 'xxxx' doesn't work with the demo version, will it work with the registered version?
No. There's no difference between the demo and the registered version,
both versions have the same emulation core, if a game doesn't work with the demo
version it won't work with the registered version either.
|
 |
can it load .FCD files?
No, MagicEngine can not load these files,
this format is not supported.
|
 |
can it read CD ISO files?
No, it reads only true CDs.
|
 |
do you plan to support CD ISO files in a future version?
No, for now this is not planned.
|
 |
how to make MagicEngine use another CD-ROM drive?
If you are using version 1.0 of MagicEngine you can directly change
the CD-ROM drive from the GUI, in the 'boot cd' menu, but if you are
using an older version you will need to change the 'drive' option
in the pce.ini file (0 = first CD-ROM drive, 1 = second, etc...),
or if your PC is running Windows 2000 or XP you can also
change the 'drive_letter' option, simply set it to the letter
of your CD-ROM drive (D:, E:, etc...).
|
 |
what file names should I use for the System Card ROMs,
MagicEngine doesn't recognize the ROMs I have.
The different file names are : SYSCARD1.PCE,
SYSCARD2.PCE, SYSCARD3.PCE, and GE.PCE for the Game Express System Card.
Don't use compressed ROMs.

About the Windows version...
 |
does it works with Windows XP?
Yes, it works well with Windows XP.
If you encounter graphics slowdown or graphics glitches
change the video driver. By default MagicEngine
uses DirectX but some video cards work better with OpenGL.
To change the video driver double-click on the pce.ini
file, look for the 'driver' option, change it and save the file.
|
 |
my gamepad doesn't work well with the emulator, how can I fix the problem?
There are two calibration options in the pce.ini file : 'auto_calibration_1',
and 'auto_calibration_2', the first one is for adjusting the up and left
directions and the second option is for the right and down directions.
Try to increase or decrease the values depending of the problem.

 |
how much does MagicEngine cost?
It costs 15 Euro (that's about $19 USD or £10 GBP).
|
 |
what are the payment methods?
There are three possibilities :
- 1) online with a credit card (on a secure site)
- 2) by cash (most currencies accepted)
- 3) by international money order
Go to the " order"
page for more details.
|
 |
will I be entitled to get free updates once registered?
Yes, you will. Updates are always free for registered users.
|
 |
how long does it takes to receive the key file?
If you pay by credit card it usualy takes between 24 and 48 hours,
sometimes a little bit more but it's rare.
If you pay by money order or by cash, delay depends of the postal
service, about 3-5 days in Europe, 5-7 days for USA or Japan.
|
 |
can I use a Yahoo or Hotmail e-mail address to buy MagicEngine?
Yes, but we do not recommend it. Those e-mail services often
block or delete the e-mail with the key file.
If you used such an e-mail address and didn't receive your key file
contact us (either from the support page or from the forums).

I am a registered user...
 |
will I have to pay to get newer versions?
