PC-Engine Development Web Sites :
Dave is the author of two PC-Engines games. He was one of the first to start developing for the PC-Engine. On his homepage you will find his two games -- with source code, an archive of PC-Engine technical infos, and some interesting links. Dave is also a true idea-generator. I stopped to count the number of ideas he gave me for improving MagicKit.
Paul Clifford has ported MagicKit to RISC OS, and he's also the author of some very good PC-Engine technical documentations. You will find all that on his PC-Engine page.
One of the first technical site on the PC-Engine.
The site is missing some sections but the few informations
already avaible are worth a visit. On this site you will find
a complete documentation on the
The homepage of HuC, and of a few other interesting console development tools. HuC is probably one of the best things that happened to the PCE development scene, with it it's now a lot more easier to write games and demos. For this a big thank you to Zeograd for having resumed work on my sleeping C compiler project. He completed it and even added new features. We are now working together to bring you the best PCE C compiler. :)
NES Development Web Sites :
Probably one of the best NES information site. With tons of links to NES ressources and other web sites. And also a good source of ressources on the 6502 microprocessor.
Development Tools :
Mappy is a nice map editor. It support tiles of any size, it can attach attributes to tiles, it support layers, it is easy to use, and last but not least it is supported by MagicKit and HuC. :)
Mailing Lists :
The console-dev list is a good place for talking about console programming in general; or about a specific machine. If you need help for programming your game this is definitely the place to go.
The nesdev list is a mailing list 100% dedicated to NES development (hence its name :). It covers both software and hardware developments.
