				| II'm an average Joe, not a computer guy or gamer, but have proudly succeeded (with the help of these forums) in installing ME, getting the CD to boot, and configuring a gamepad to play my one game - Neo Nectaris. I have no sound, but understand v 1.0 will fix that. I've found many references to syscards, but no explanation of the purpose. I'm happily playing my game, but would there be some benefit in adding a syscard? _________________

				| In general, having a system card image, may provide more complete/accurate emulation
It is easier to just use the original rom, instead of having to reverse engineer it.

				| Some games have problems using the magic system but work with a rom image of an offical syscard. I'd suggest a System 3.0 rom image. Its compatible with the older syscards and works with the most games. | |

				| It's very nice of you to offer your help but you overestimate my knowledge. My reading of your notes is that Neo Nectaris might play better with a syscard, but if I get one, I may have to reverse engineer it - probably beyond my capability. If I'm satisfied, it would be simpler to continue as I am. (My only disappointment with my present arrangement is that the game is too slow with animation on and not interesting enough with animation off.) Please check me on this: if I want to experiment, all I have to do is download a syscard 3.0 to the same directory as ME, then open ME, boot the CD, click on the Syscard 3.0 line, and see if there is improvement of any kind -right? If you can spend a little more time on me - what is a rom image and what does it have to do with a syscard?? Thanks again for your input and patience. _________________

				| No, you don't have to reverse engineer anything - the only one who would have to do that is David. I was simply stating why using a System Card Image might improve emulation. Basically, it makes life easier for the emulator's programmer.
Just experiment by putting the system card file (syscard3.pce) into the magic engine directory, and then do what you proposed in your post.
