CD backup RAM not working in 1.1.3?

I don't think CD backup RAM works in ME 1.1.3.

I played Neo Nectaris, and it won't let me save after beating a level. I tried using Select to format the RAM, but it still won't save.

Also I tried deleting my idx files to start clean, but I don't think ME 1.1.3 is making new ones.

Any ideas?
