Is there a funtion to display the 1bit 8x8 characters of roman/katakana/hirogana font from the system card like with 12x12 and 16x16?

No, I don't know of any system call that accesses the 8x8 font. There's an internal function that is called by the system card at startup to load the font but I doubt it's at the same address in all the different system cards.
