[Tutorial] How To Find Unlimited Lives

Example: Air Zonk

In Air Zonk, we are going to apply a couple methods to find Player 1's Lives address. First thing we are going to do is try a known search.
The game begins with a number 4 at the bottom of the screen to represent Air Zonk's limited lives.


In MagicEngine, we are going to enter 4 in the value slot, and click on Begin Search

You should have a similar screen to mine, I have 32 possible results.

I am going to lose a life to be at 3


Enter 3 into the value slot and click Continue Search

Lose a life and continue the search

You should get three results which looks like a promising test phase. Let us lose one more life and do a search for 2.


All the results disappeared. The first attempt at a known search was not successful.

So the first attempt did not work. Now we are going to attempt an unknown search to locate the address. Let us start the game again with four lives


Instead of adding a value, keep it blank and click Begin Search


Lose a life


Under the Restart button, Click the – button, you should receive about 149 results

Lose another life


Click the – button, you should receive about 21 results


Lose another life


Click the – button, you should receive about 13 results

Lose yet another life, poor Air Zonk


Click the – button, you should receive about 6 results


We now can begin the testing phase. Click on the first address F820B2* and click on the Add button


*If you noticed, we have zero lives, but this address says there is one still there if this is correct.

Put in the Value of 4, and put a tick/X next to Freeze Value


I have died about seven more times and the Lives had stayed at 3 the entire time.

Congratulation! We now have a working Player 1 Unlimited Lives code.
